I read a book called World War 2 Heroes by Allon Zullo. It is made up of 10 true stories told by soldiers who fought in the war. It is a really good book.
It was about the attack on Pearl Harbor. A man named John Finn worked at a naval air station when the Japanese started to attack. He started to shoot back with a huge machine gun. First,he was shot in the legs, then he was shot in the left arm and the right thumb. But Finn kept on shooting back when a bomb exploded near him and hit him in the belly. A soldier wanted him to stop and see a medic but he wouldn't stop. No matter how many times he got hurt,he kept on fighting. Finn didn't stop until the Japanese flew away and he went to see a doctor. He had a total of 21 wounds. He was given the medal of Honor for being a hero.
